Recently, Stockholm Skavsta Airport was one of the first airports to welcome Wizz Air's brand new A321. Wizz Air will change most of its current A320 aircraft into the A321, which has an additional 50 seats, over time. Initially stationed in Budapest, Stockholm Skavsta will see this aircraft type arriving from more WizzAir bases in the future.
- "WizzAir has increased its aircraft movements in 2015 over 2014 with 28,3%. In the first quarter of 2016 its number of rotations again increased with more than 50%. Add larger aircraft capacity and it becomes obvious that Wizz Air sees Stockholm Skavsta Airport as an important gateway into Stockholm and East Sweden. We are very enthusiastic on our partnership with Wizz Air and we will collaborate strongly to optimize the brand Wizz Air in the Swedish market", says Peter Steinmetz, MD Stockholm Skavsta Airport.
Stockholm Skavsta Airport today has 42 routes, of which 30 are operated by Ryanair and 12 by Wizz Air.The passenger volume in 2015 was just under 1.8 million travellers.
Since 1998 the airport is privately owned to 90.1%. The current owner is Airports Worldwide with headquarters in USA. The Municipality of Nyköping is shareholder of 9.9% of the airport.
