For Third Year in a Row, Juan Santamaría International Airport Receives SkyTrax World Airport Award

Houston, TX (April 17, 2013) – ADC & HAS Airports Worldwide is pleased to announce that for the third year in a row, SkyTrax has named Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) as the second best airport in Central  America and the Caribbean.

The San Jose airport also picked up the Third Best Staff Award for the region.

In 2009, ADC & HAS acquired a 47.5% share of AERIS Holdings Costa Rica, the managing operator of the Juan Santamaría International Airport in San José, the capital city of Costa Rica. With operations and management support from ADC & HAS, the Juan Santamaría airport underwent significant improvements including: building new security checkpoints, expanding the check-in lobby, opening a new immigration area, adding and upgrading the commercial offerings in the main terminal, and improving baggage claim.   

More than 3.2 million passengers passed through the airport in 2012. The Juan Santamaría International Airport is Costa Rica’s largest airport and Central America’s 2nd largest airport. It is also a major hub for one of Central and South America’s largest carriers. Major countries of origin and destination include U.S., Mexico, Salvador, Panama, Spain and Germany.
