HOUSTON, TX (November 1, 2012) – ADC & HAS Airports Worldwide recently recognized one of its own, Oscar Sanchez, the Operations and Maintenance Manager for Daniel Oduber Q. International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Costa Rica, for his flawless execution and direction during a critical emergency situation arising from the September 5, 2012 earthquake.
The 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck the northwestern portion of Costa Rica, 38 miles south of Liberia. It was the largest earthquake to strike the Guanacaste area since 1991. In it, there were no injuries or fatalities, with very minor damage to the new passenger terminal building.
A letter of recognition and commemorative globe was presented to Oscar during a meeting attended by Steering Committee members of Coriport, S.A., the concessionaire of the Liberia airport. "It is with great pride and the highest degree of appreciation that we honor Oscar’s achievement,” wrote Ben Trujillo, Operations Project Manager (Americas) for ADC & HAS Airports Worldwide. “His actions ensured the safety and wellbeing of visitors, passengers, employees and government officials.”
Consistent with the selfless dedication of ADC & HAS project staff around the globe, Oscar would not accept recognition for the positive outcome of that emergency situation without giving due credit to his colleagues at ADC & HAS Management Costa Rica, S.A. for their cooperation and support.
